WOW - We're Pregnant - (Again) - Again!!

Is This What They Call Deja Vu?

So for those of you keeping score, yes this is my third pregnancy in three years and what a ride it's been so far! Dave and I are SO excited to be starting this adventure again - but this time it will be completely different since we have sweet Kaiden already!

THE BACKGROUND:

So Dave and I had discussed "trying" last month, as some of you know we want a big family and we both agree that we want the kids to be close in age. But with it being busy season and all and Dave being absolutely exhausted with working most nights till after dinner time (he leaves the house most mornings by 6:30) and also working most weekends, I didn't really think we had much of a chance this month and pretty much we had decided that we would wait until fall when the schedule gets back to normal to "try" again. But sometimes things have a way of working out, and at the risk of sounding very Kraft (instead of cheesey - it's my new Brand Naming thing - some of you may be familiar with my "spandex" work) I have felt for a while now, like we were going to have a baby in the Spring - specifically March. I know I 'm a dork and we're OK with that - but it has been my gut feeling for a while.

THE STORY:

Since Kaiden arrived the few cycles I have had have been pretty regular, so I knew when to expect my 'visit' but this time it was different. I knew something was up, and I had some signs, but honestly because Kaiden had been so sick last week I sincerely thought that I just had a mild case of his stomach flu. So the uneasiness in my stomach had been dismissed and my exhaustion - well WHO wouldn't be exhausted after changing some 60+ diapers in a week, doing 7 loads and giving a sweet angel a dozen baths in one week? So that to was "reasoned" away, and thinking back I remember one or two days last week when I had some 'tenderness' in my girls, but I honestly thought that it could be remnants of milk drying or something - anyway I was SHOCKED when I got "+" on the test I took Monday, and of course I had to follow it up with a digital this morning which instantly read "pregnant". I am still smiling from ear to ear, we are SO happy!

How I Told Big Daddy Dave:

So like I said before I was SHOCKED, literally I was shaking, and my heart started racing, like when you get a huge adrenaline rush - yup that was me! And I thought "I gotta tell Dave!" so I picked up the phone to call him, and I really wasn't doing so great with the whole staying calm thing, but when he answered I could hear that there were customers in the shop, and I couldn't tell him then, so I had some time to do some thinking. SO I decided to "surprise" him with the news when he got home around 8:00. As gross as it sounds (but don't judge too quick b/c I am sure plenty of my pals out there have done a few laps around the house with a positive test) I decided that the positive home pregnancy test (hpt) would be the 'present' and the card would spell out the good news. . . .

This is the Gift Bag that I taped silly pictures to, with a slight sports theme - touch down - bulls eye - thumbs up - home run - hole in one - GOOOOAAALLLL - and my personal favorite which was taped to the test (my Biology teacher humor showing) sperm in egg picture - did ya notice it before?

Kaiden had to take a breather after the Onion Volcano shot flames a little too high for his, and Ashlyn's liking. Poor Ashlyn took some consoling to calm down, Kaiden just turned bright red in the cheeks - that's an Irish man's baby for ya!

I would like to take this time to point out that it is the two Daddy's encouraging the kissing - So Todd, no getting upset in a few years when the Spawn of Dave comes calling to take little Ashlyn to the prom! Just remember You Started It! :o)

What Birthday is complete without a Birthday Cake made from Flowers? Dave's Mom Mary sent me these beautiful flowers and they lasted a long time too!

Good Friends, Good Food, Good Weather - WHAT could be better?


We had such a nice 4th weekend - especially since we actually got to celebrate it this year! Last year we were selling shirts down at a soccer game in 90+ heat and I was severely pregnant! This year I got to enjoy some ice cold refreshments and some pool time - well OK the kids got pool time but we got to watch them have the fun. Isn't that what parenting is all about anyway?

Here is Kaiden watching the pool fill up - he is so focused and pretty stinking cute if I do say so!

Kaiden has so much fun playing at Robinson's White Water, he gets one pool to himself and his girlfriend gets the other - although she usually prefers not to get too wet. Here is Kaiden - ALL BOY splashing and playing totally involved in himself. And here is Ashlyn, she is ALL GIRL, she sits back watches what is going on, stays pretty dry. It's SO funny how different they are!

Pool Party is over

We decided when the kids lips started to turn purple that they had probably had enough time in the pools - OK they weren't actually purple but you know what I mean. Who can resist a baby booty? I know my Mom can't stand when people sag their "britches" but I couldn't stop myself from snapping this picture of Kaiden "mooning" me!

We really do buy him clothes that fit, but he is so tiny that the smallest swim trunks I could find were 6 month - the ones you see in the picture above - and I really thought they would fit better, but I guess most people do put diapers on their swimming babies - not us! We keep it true K-I-RK style! Here's Kaiden in his hoodie - I already know he is gonna be a hit with the ladies when he gets there. . .

Kaiden had such a big day, I can't believe how well both him and Ashlyn did. They played inside, outside in the pools on the deck and on top of all of that Kaiden was teething so the rest of the pictures he has his hand

9 Months 3 Weeks

The Days of Being a Toothless Wonder Are Coming to an End!

Well I knew it would happen sooner or later, but I must admit I am still a little sad to think that soon my baby's gummy smile will now be interrupted by the intrusion of teeth! I mean, I am a Biologist and I understand that healthy teeth are kind of an essential part of life (sort of) but that doesn't seem to make it any easier! It is official he is growing up WAY TOO FAST!!!

Mile Stones:

So at 8.5 months Kaiden perfect his crawling - he got tired of rolling and scooting across the floor and one day he decided to try out those knees, and he never looked back!

By his 9 month mark he had perfected crawling and had moved right on to cruising - he loves to pull up to stand, and then cruise around the object, making lap after lap and loving every minute of it. His favorite two "race tracks" are the kitchen stools and a fan box, maybe that is why Daddy still hasn't installed the fan upstairs :o)

9 months 3 weeks, well this has been a big week for sure! He has really mastered finger foods in the last week - watch out puffy stars! And stage 3 foods are no longer "jars of death" - Daddy was feeding Kaiden one night and grabbed a stage 3 chicken and stars instead of a stage 2 chicken noodle (if you don't have babies or it's been a while there is a HUGE difference) I was out having a "Mommy's Sanity Mani/Pedi" and called to see how things were going when Dave informs me that he had to pull Kaiden out of his high chair, flip him upside down and start patting his back to dislodge the nugget of veggie that had lodged in his throat. Then goes on to ask why I would buy Kaiden these Jars of Death?" Luckily everything ended up fine and both Dave and Kaiden have moved past their fear of stage 3 foods!

His other big accomplishment this last week has been conquering the stairs! Kaiden can fly up the stairs 'faster than a speeding bullet!' He is so proud of himself, he will go up a few than turn to check that you were watching him - such a show off!

Summer 2008

Kaiden at 9 Months

So I am finally am getting around to updating my blog. You know it's funny, when I started this I thought, this won't be so hard to keep it up to date, I mean when I am already checking my email on a daily basis I'll have a few minutes to get on my blog and keep everything up day to day. . . Then I got pregnant and still I did an OK job keeping up with my blog, and pictures of the new house, and moving, and baby bumps etc. Of course last summer when I was working 60 hour weeks at the warehouse, I had a few times where I missed a check in, but overall it was pretty good. Then Kaiden was born, and I was on here telling everyone the story of how he arrived, and showing off pictures, etc. . . Fast forward nine months and I have missed two and three months at a time, I can't remember the last time I updated my pictures and there are actually posts where there is just a title and no pictures no story - NOTHING! So I am going to TRY and at least do one post a month, it may be short but at least I'll try to keep it up and running.

The 9 Month Check Up

Kaiden had his 9 month check up, and he did pretty well! I am very excited to announce that he has officially made his way on to two charts!!! He was 10th percentile for his height which was 27.5 inches - and he was 50th percentile for his head size - he's growing a big brain in there! And although he wasn't on the charts yet, he was getting close to the curve for weight. Kaiden weighed in at a whopping 16 lbs 2 oz and Dr Vikki was very pleased with his growth trends - and we think if the Dr. is happy then we're happy! And what was even better was that he only had to get one shot! That was amazing, he only cried for a few seconds - which always breaks my heart - but then he was good to go!
