Another Week, Another Appointment

A Quick Visit From Grampa

So Thursday ended up being quite a busy day for us. We had a follow up appointment down at Emory with Pierce's GI and it also happened that at just about the same time my Dad was landing and heading up to have lunch with us and getting to see Pierce without the wires for the first time.

Dr.'s Appointment

Well this visit went much smoother than our first, which lasted over three and a half hours and involved both Kaiden and I loosing it, and me putting myself in time-out, so I didn't upset any nurses. The doc said that he was very happy with Pierce's growth, at that appointment he was 8lbs 15ozs and just under 22 inches (they told me wrong at the appointment before he should have only been 21 inches last time). He said that we should go ahead and keep him on the same high calorie feed going into and coming out of the surgery because his body would continue to need the extra calories for growth and for healing. Which was fine by me! And he wasn't even upset that Pierce hadn't had the NG tube in for over a month, once we found a bottle that he liked we got rid of the tube, and he was fine with that. And even better we don't have to go back to see him again until August! Hallelujah!

Grampa Dave

Well Kaiden had gotten to spend some time with my Dad the week Pierce was born, of course it was a whirlwind stress filled visit, but he had fun with him and during that trip he was just 'grampa'. This time things were a bit more relaxed and the morning of his arrival Dave told Kaiden he was going to get to see his 'Grampa Dave' for lunch and it stuck! So for the day and a half we got to see him he was 'Grampa Dave' kids are so funny!

Friday we met Dad at a playground in Woodstock and he got to wear Grampa Dave out, then we headed to Chick-fil-a for lunch and some ice cream. It was a nice day, and of course Kaiden had a blast getting to show his grampa all the cool stuff at both play places.
