SERIOUSLY, where does the time go!?!?! The last post that I started is dated 2/28 - today is 4/11 - apparently we got sucked into a black hole for a few weeks but luckily we have resurfaced! HA!
OK so here's my feeble attempt at excuse/explanation for my absence - we went out of town! Well more like we went across the country for a week long family reunion in Texas!! And LONG GONE are the days where going out of town meant you were only 'gone' for the days of your actual vacation! HA - now it's much more like spend a week packing up everything you'll need for your trip - go on your trip, then spend another week or two OR THREE (don't judge!!) getting everything put back in order from said vacation! The short story is we had a FABULOUS time and I am actually working on a post exclusively dedicated to this vacation - but NO it is not ready yet - so check back in a few days (or weeks, again DON'T JUDGE~!!!)
What else happend while we were in the black hole!? Oh yeah, that's right my sweet baby Pierce celebrated his 2nd birthday!! Again, HOW is it possible that he is two years old already!??! We didn't have an 'official' celebration - well at least not one where I made him a special cake - which Kaiden was all too happy to point out to me and the guilt of that recognition by my 3 year old weighed heavy. . . so also coming soon will be a post of Pierce's belated birthday pictures! HA - he had a cupcake & we sang happy Birthday to him ON his birthday - but just to be fair we will be doing a small party with friends and family here too!
Flip - Flop
This is the funny thing about being a mom - some times I feel SO on top of things - dare I say it, even a step ahead - those are the days I feel invincible - but here lately I feel like I am running an asylum and all of the inmates have escaped!! Seriously, I am making rookie mistakes that I NEVER actually made when I was a rookie and the one - two punch of the three and a half year old & two year old really had my back to the ropes (yes, this is a boxing reference, inspired by my new favorite movie The Fighter staring none other than my long time boyfriend Mark Wahlberg) But luckily everything seems to be cyclical and I feel like I am on the upswing again - although I am about to embark on changing out the boys closets so without a doubt that will quickly spin me right back down! HA - oh well I guess it's good job security!
OK just wanted to let you know we are still alive & functioning - and at some point in the near future I will have a few more new posts, pictures and videos up! Probably not today though cause, well it's Monday & the boys are home which means quiet time with the computer is next to impossible!!

My Little Loves
Everyday Little Things That Warm My Heart
Without crossing the overly sappy line, I'd like to write about some of the everyday things, that unfortunately if not documented tend to be forgotten soon after occurring, my 'little loves'. I'm not going to lie, being a Mom is WAY harder than I ever imagined it would be! I'm not sure WHAT I thought it would be like, but for some reason my vision of how it was going to be included a lot more quiet time & a lot less deep sighs, eye rolls & temper tantrums. Regardless of that fact, it is a sincerely rewarding adventure, albeit it trying at times, but the other morning I was going about my usual breakfast duties, and I caught a whiff of the morning coffee brewing, overheard Dave and Kaiden whispering about the days activities and in the distance could hear Pierce chatting up his friends in his crib while he awaited his morning pick up, and I thought 'how lucky am I?'.
The Sight Of Little Loves
OH BOY, here is a starting place, cause Lord knows once you become a Mom you see WAY MORE ickiness then you ever even knew existed before, but I think this inherent grossness helps us to really cherish when you come across a heart warming moment.
When you are the Mom of two very strong willed little boys the days are typically filled with quite a few arguments, fights, WWF style take downs, temper tantrums and ultimately time outs - it's exhausting!! And this particular morning we were heading out to drop Kaiden at school and Pierce and I had errands to run, I had to run upstairs to get my shoes and I was hollering at the boys to hurry up so we could put their shoes on and get out the door! Once downstairs I grabbed my camera off the computer table and was going to put it back in the cubby so no little hands helped me with it and as I come around the corner this is what I found - it actually stopped me right in my tracks! They were giggling and talking in hushed tones, one of their new favorite things to do, and they both looked up at the exact second - I LOVE this picture - cause this makes you (if even temporarily) forget the chaos and frustration that can come with raising kids and just remind me how incredibly blessed we are and just how amazing these two guys are!
The Sounds Of Little Loves
Who doesn't love the sound of a little one laughing?! I mean remember that homevideo turned TV commercial where the little boy laughed uncontrolably at the dad ripping pages out of a magazine? So I certainly LOVE getting to hear my boys be silly together, and in this case in particular the term 'my boys' also includes Dave! This is a quick video clip from a Saturday morning a few weekends past, they were being goofs and luckily my video camera was ready for the moment!
This could also go under 'sights' if of course I took a picture or more like a video of this, but since it usually happens late at night, I am NOT in the 'documentation' frame of mind. Each night the boys go to bed and then Dave and I either finish dinner, attempt to get the house back in some semblence of order or catch up on our DVR shows - I know, who knew the lafe of a parent could BE so GLAMOROUS - and then once we decided we are done for the night, usually after falling asleep watching a show but we have to wake up to turn the lights off, we go down and check on the boys. I'm not sure if other parents still do this or not, but this is one of my FAVORITE nightly routines! First because sleeping babies, no matter how old, are ALL ANGELS!!! And second because IF I were to miss this I would miss hearing Kaiden do his SO sweet lip smack/chew sounds as he repositions himself once we tuck him in. You have to imagine the same thing newborns sometimes do when there is no paci in their mouth, it's kind of like that. He has done this same mouth thing since he was a baby and now occasionally after his lip smack he says a word or two about whatever he is dreaming about, it is just precious!
And as mentioned earlier at times two boys, eighteen months apart, can be shockingly rough toward one another, but no matter what each day and night before both nap and bedtime the boys say "Good night" to one another and Kaiden will say "I love you Pierce" and Pierce from inside his crib yells "Bye Bye Brutha, luuuub ewww". I mean really - it evokes memories of the scene of the last night before the wedding from one of my all time favorite movies, Father Of The Bride.
The Smells Of Little Loves
Eww, I know sometimes just the thought of some of the smells associated with little kids grosses me out too! But I'm NOT talking about the icky kind, remember this is my 'Little Loves' post, so I'm talking about the way the boys smell after they have taken a bubble bath with that blue bottle of Johnson & Johnsons Bubble Bath - it is WONDERFUL!!
Or how if you bury your nose in their hair when they are sitting on your lap you can tell if they picked the Coconut Monkey Or Citrus Shark Shampoo when they got to shower with Daddy.
Now I'm sure anyone who has ever used it also feels the same way, but the smell of the night time purple bottle of lotion, as you're tucking the boys in you catch a waft of it in the air. Oh, that is just great!
Anyone who knows us knows that Kaiden is a Daddy's boy, and so some mornings Kaiden will 'get ready for work' with Dave, and on those days, daddy will share a little of his cologne with Kaiden and it's always fun to get a hug from my little man and he smells like Dave. It's like the best of both worlds wrapped up in one yummy smelling hug!
OK I'm sure I have more, but for now those are my 'Little Loves', hope you like them and maybe it will inspire you to find your 'Little Loves' around your house too!

Happy Valentines Day
. . . 2011 Style!
It never ceases to amaze me how much things change as you get older, or rather, mature - see age ain't nothin but a number, right R Kelly, but maturity now that cast a whole new light on things! And admittedly I've never really been the biggest of Valentine's Day Fans! I do kind of think it's a made up holiday to guilt people into doting on their loved one, but if you think of it more as a day of showing your love rather than of buying cheap crap OR WAY overpriced flowers, than it can help ease the pain - er I mean, spread the love!!
As I've said before this whole being a Mom thing, certainly changes how I see things, and how you want your beloveds to remember them! So this year, well after Christmas when things were on uber sale, I picked up a couple of character pancake griddles and some mini, Toy Story color wonder packs, and stashed them away till Valentine's Day. I don't necessarily think it matters WHAT you give your loved one on Valentines Day, just that you take the time to remember them - honestly!
Our Love Day Details
So like always I buy my gift bags at the end of the season the year before, and reuse em till I can't! And of course my go to store, Target, never lets me down with the array of Cutie McCute stuff they have for each holiday so between all that thrifty shopping I was able to throw together this cute little "Love Basket" for the boys.
SO we had to wait for Dave to get home, which was killing Kaiden, then we had to wait for the boys to open their gifts so we could fix them their Brinner! So with the boys waiting anxiously, although I don't think they knew what to expect, Dave made each of them their respective character-cakes & sausage. Which honestly, I thought they would have both eaten a LOT more of, but such is the name of the game these days! One night they can't get enough, the next 3 they nibble like little mice on nothing! Anyway, with the boys food at least in front of them we got started on our meal - it was yummy - and NO I don't have pictures of either of our meals, even though my new camera has a 'food' setting - oh well. Dave had steak with bluecheese butter crumbles melted on top & I had ~insert Jim Carrey's Voice from Dumb & Dumber ~ 'shrimp on the barbie' then our next favorite thing Idahoian Baby Red & Parmesan Mashed Potatoes (seriously WHY did I ever make home made taters before?) and my newest Favorite side veggie - Lemon Garlic Brocolini - YUMMO! So we quickly enjoyed our delicious dinners - with an almost 3.5 year old and almost 2 year old, dinners aren't what you would call relaxing, but we also had to speed through to our dessert course!

Call it a family tradition, cause we did it for the first time up at my cousin Gretchen's house when Kaiden was just a few months old and we've done since - the melt in your microwave chocolate fondu with Strawberries and Marshmallows. Seriously there is NO better way to top off your Love Day dinner than with some chocolate dipped goodness! And of course IF you have the patience to wait 2 or 3 minutes it cools into a hard shell, as opposed to warm melty chocolate - basically either way, you can't lose!
MY 2nd Favorite Valentine's Gift EVER!!!
Of course my first favorite Valentine's day would be from four years ago (HOW could it possibly be that long ago already!?) when I learned that I was STILL pregnant with Baby Kaiden! And what an amazing gift he is! Yes, some days are better than others now that we're turning the corner on three & a half, BUT you get the point! But THIS years gift is something I have been keeping my eye on for a while now, and finally Dave got the hint ~ it couldn't have possibly been the weekly emails with links to the craigslist posting that helped drive home my gift wish list! Anywho, with out further delay let me introduce you to my new camera! I haven't decided on a name for it yet, yes I name inanimate objects, but can I just say, name or no name, I am SO in LOVE!!!
I know, I know, what a lucky little girlie I am, which it's true, I am! BUT up until this little beauty came into my life the majority of the pictures you see on this blog are the result of my handy work with our Sony Handycam & editing software! See as you know, wee ones don't often like to hold still long, and it's even harder to make it look like you're capturing the moment when you have NO control over shutter speed. . . SO what I typically did was shoot in MPG format then go frame by frame ~ YES you read that right~ to find a frame or two that would make a decent enough photo to keep as a memory for years to come! Well apparently after enough complaining about blurred smiles, and sides of faces in the photo format on our Sony, the hubs gave in and got me this Nikon!!! Eek - my heart is still all a flutter! I used to LOVE my 35mm cameras back in the day - I still have all my film equipment and love to shoot with them, but ironically enough film is expensive PLUS you have to pay to get them developed & you don't have the immediate affirmation that the shot you got was a good one, so once the point & shoot digitals came along we pretty much made the switch. But I LOVE the versatility of the new DSLRs! For instance, this one has a 'Child Portrait' mode which keeps the child in sharp focus, keeps colors of clothing sharp and skin tones neutral and it blurs the background image - it's a friggin perfect shot everytime! LOVE IT!

OK,OK - I KNOW they're my kids but I just LOVE those pictures & the fact that they are crisp, clear, they capture the moment & all though I did have to sort through 300+ photos, I did NOT have to go frame by frame thru MPGs to get these shots! YAY For That!
