First Official Texas Holiday

Yes, technically we were here for 4th of July, however it was also on a Wednesday and since we didn't know where anything was, we didn't go to any of the local celebrations, and if it weren't for our neighbors catching us out in the back yard and inviting us next door to watch the fireworks over the lake we wouldn't have 'done' anything.

SO we're going with this as our first official holiday in Texas, and since we know our way around (sorta) we hoped in the car and headed for downtown Rockwall, which is just over the bridge behind the house. They were having 'Scare on the Square' and since we are not sure if our neighborhood will actually celebrate Halloween or not, we decided we would make sure the boys get at least one round of trick or treating in.

Mario, Luigi and Baby Kong were a hit on the square! Everyone thought they were just too cute, and much to the sheer delight of the boys we ran into a little girl who was dressed as Princess Peach, a dad who had a Toad hat and a Mario ghost shirt on and another little girl dressed as Koopa - I NEVER thought I would be proficient in naming my Mario Bros characters, but thanks to my boys I can name just about all of them now!

This was a very cute community gathering. This town actually has a 'town square' and all of the businesses, shops, boutiques and restaurants on the square were handing out candy and goodies then IN the square just behind the courthouse was the carnival with the bounce house, and face painting and little carnival like games, it was a lot of fun. So of course candy was the first thing on the boy's minds when we got there so we immediately hit the square.

Once we made the loop around the square and saw our pal Cookie, we headed for the bounce house and carnival fun. While crossing the street we spotted what we thought was THE BEST group costume - The Duck Dynasty crew - freaking hilarious! They all had duck calls and EVERYTHING and everyone was decked out in camo head to toe - and of course the beard!!
